Japanese outbound travelers were 940,000 in May 2024, improving the reduction rate

Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) reported that the number of Japanese outbound travelers was down 34.5% to 941,700 in May 2024 compared to the same month 2019, improving the reduction rate from 46.7% in April 2024.  

According to OAG, international flights departing from six major airports in Japan (Narita, Haneda, Kansai, Nagoya, Fukuoka and Sapporo) were still down 8.8% to 20,190 and available seats down 6.5% to 4,721,838 compared to May 2019.

Haneda increased flights by 29.8% to 4,678 and available seats by 24.1% to  1,154,750, and Fukuoka also flights by 10.7% to 1,948 and available seats by 16.8% to 417,065.
