A new business of oneway rent-a-car from Narita Airport is launched to meet travelers’ needs in late night or early morning

Pathfinder, a MaaS-related service provider, has launched a oneway rent-a-car service from Narita International Airport, in which a user dose not need to return a rent-a-car.

A new system enables to match the one-way use of rental cars by users with the operation of vehicles by operators. The 24-hours operation meets travelers who depart from or arrive in the airport in late night or early morning when public transportation is not in service yet.

The provider has tested the operation between Narita Airport and Tokyo or Yokohama since October 2022. Based on the results, the service was used mainly by families in their 40s and friends in their 20s, and succeeded in making a profit. Following the operation between Narita and Tokyo or Yokohama, Pathfinder plans to extend the service to other major airports in partnerships with major rent-a-car companies.
