Yamanashi Prefecture announced that the total amount of toll for Mt. Fuji climbing at Fuji Yoshida Gate reached about 300 million yen with 148,913 climbers in the period from July 1 to September 20 2024.
The prefecture charged 2,000 yen a climber for the first time this summer to avoid a serious over-tourism issue around the summit and improve manner violation.
In addition, voluntary donations totaled 61 million yen from 61,000 visitors, reducing from 100 million yen from 104,000 visitors last year.
The prefecture plans to use the collected donations for environment protection, improvement of a security system for climbers and so forth.
