‘Tourism Resilience Summit’ will be held in Sendai to discuss preparation for crisis and business continuity, joined by tourism ministers from APAC

Japan Tourism Agency of Japan will host ‘Tourism Resilience Summit’ in Sendai from November 9 to 11 2024, inviting tourism ministers from APAC and representatives from international tourism organizations. The three-days summit organizes a general meeting, bilateral ministerial meetings, a lunch event and excursion tours to the Tohoku area.

On the first day,  ‘Tourism Resilience Summit’ symposium will be held jointly by UN Tourism, and Sendai City will have a lecture session with a theme of lessons from the East Japan Great Earthquake. 

Japan Tourism Agency expects that participants will share knowledge about strategies or plans of tourism resilience through symposiums and panel discussions. Yuki Matsuoka, head of United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) Kobe Office, will have a keynote speech about preparations for tourism crisis to secure safety of tourists.
