Airbnb has announced that the number of listings in Japan on the platform reached 41,000 as of February 16 2019, picking up from a large reduction after the private accommodation law was enforced in June 2018. Airbnb is proactively dealing with hotel rooms in addition to home-sharing properties through partnerships with Japanese OTAs, such as luxury accommodation booking ‘Relux.’
