TripAdvisor recently announced that reviews about countryside tourist spots increased both in Japanese and foreign languages.
The noteworthy increases in reviews in foreign languages were found in Miyazaki Prefecture (+50% year on year) and Kagoshima Prefecture (35%). In Japanese, reviews about Niigata Prefecture and Fukui Prefecture particularly increased by 10% respectively.
Among the top six prefectures in terms of the number of reviews (Tokyo, Hokkaido, Kyoto, Osaka, Okinawa and Kanagawa), new tourist spots ranked in the top 10 both in Japanese and foreign languages. In Hokkaido, eight new tourist spots ranked in the top 10 in foreign languages.
