Uber Japan signed a partnership agreement with Hakuba Village, Nagao Prefecture, to begin dispatching taxies on the Uber app in the limited winter season to improve conveniences for international visitors who are used to use the Uber app.
Hakuba Village has had challenges in transportations in the village particularly in the winter season, when a lot of international and Japanese skiers visit the village.
According to Uber data, there were six times more Uber users, mostly users in foreign countries, accessing the Uber app in Hakuba Village in the winter season to look for on-demand transportations than those in other seasons.
Five local taxi operators will join the Uber taxi service, dispatching about 50 taxies in total available for 24 hours.
