JTB announced that transactions of its 20 group companies totaled 1,643.6 billion in FY2016 ended March 31 2017, 5.8% less than FY2015. The total consisted of 1,004 billion JPY for the domestic travel business (-6.0%), 494.8 billion JPY for the overseas travel business (-4.4%) and 86.2 billion JPY for the international travel business (+14.2%).
Transactions of the domestic travel package tour brand ACE JTB and the overseas travel package tour brand LOOK JTB were respectively down 7.7% and 5.5%. A share of JTB group’s overseas travel customers accounted for 17.9% of the total, 1.9 lower points than a year earlier.
In March 2017, total transactions were down 3.9% to 152.7 billion JPY, which comprised 93.2 billion JPY for the domestic travel business (-9.0%), 43.2 billion JPY for the overseas travel business (+3.0%) and 9.2 billion JPY for the international travel business (+27.2%).
For the domestic travel business, transactions of package tour products increased by 1.8%, while transactions of group travels declined by 27.7%. ACE JTB customers were down 3.0%. Transactions of FIT travel were also down 1.4%.
For the overseas travel business, transactions of group travel declined by 1.6%, while transactions of package tour products were up 0.1% though customers were down 6.2%. Growths of transactions were found for China (+15.4%), Hawaii (+3.6%) and Korea (+1.8%). Transactions of FIT travel increased by 2.3%.
