In this coming New Year holiday period (December 28 2023 to January 3 2024), both ANA and JAL have received more bookings for their international flights than a year ago, but still 34% fewer bookings than the same period of 2019.
As of the announced day, ANA increased international flight bookings by 35.1% year on year to 143,917 (down 34% over 2019), with the booking rate of 76.4%. Bookings for Hawaii were 1.9 times more than a year ago and reached the mots bookings ever with the booking rate of 86.7%. ANA said that the Hawaii flights on the busiest day were already full. Bookings for Taipei, Seoul and Bangkok also increased.
JAL increased international flight bookings by 14.8% to 126,693 (down 33.2% over 2019) with the booking rate of 77.7%. Bookings particularly increased by 33.8% for Europe, by 86% for East Asia and by 22.3% for Hawaii and Guam.
Domestic flight bookings of ANA were up 1.7% to 883,832 (down 16.6% over 2019) with the booking rate of 74%. More bookings for all destinations except Kasai and Okinawa were received. Including Peach Aviation, an ANA group LCC, bookings were down 1.1% to 1,010,336 (down 12% over 2019).
JAL slightly decreased domestic flight bookings by 2.2% to 695,202 (down 11.9% over 2019) with the booking rate of 73.8%, receiving more bookings for Hokkaido and Okinawa.
