NAVITIME Japan, a Japan’s leading navigation app, announced that the most-searched tourist spot in 2023 was ‘Universal Studio Japan’ for two years in a row, followed by ‘Tokyo Disneyland,’ ‘Tokyo Big Sight,’ ‘Ise Jingu’ and ‘Izumo Taisha.’
This survey was compiled based on data on spots searched as destinations in 2023 using the navigation service provided by the company.
As far as searches on the app for foreign visitors are concerned, the top was ‘Fushimi Inari Taisha,’ followed by ‘Universal Studio Japan,’ ‘Nara Park’ and ‘Osaka Castle,’ all of which are located in Kansai area. In Tokyo, the most-searched place was ‘Team Lab Planets Tokyo DMM.’
NAVITIME Japan also announced the most-searched spots by prefecture on NAVITIME Travel website. Overall, shrines or temples, castles, theme-parks, well-known zoos, aquariums or museums were ranked high, and interestingly, ‘Gotemba Premium Outlet Mall’ in Shizuoka Prefecture and ‘Tosu Premium Outlet Mall’ in Saga Prefecture were top.
