The popular experience destination ranking 2025 for inbound travelers to Japan during this year’s Chinese New Year, based on booking date of a local experience booking platform KKday Japan, finds that bookings of winter activities and local experiences in Tohoku area rapidly increased, influenced by postings on SNS.
Top five were Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Hokkaido and Okinawa as usual. According to KKday Japan, bookings of leisure activities decreased in the urban areas, while bookings of restaurants increased mainly because of partnership with Tabelog, a local restaurant booking platform of Japan.

Bookings of experiences in Yamagata, Miyagi, Fukushima and Aomori notably increased partially because international scheduled flights from Taiwan, South Korea or Hong Kong to airports in Tohoku areas have restored or started.
KKday Japan revealed that tours to Zao Fox Village in Miyagi, snow trees in Zao and nostalgic Ginzan Onsen in Yamagata were twice more booked than a year ago.
In addition, more snowfall amount in Japan seemed to boost bookings of ski resort tickets and bus tour excursions.
