WILLER EXPRESS, a highway bus operator, announced that Chinese passengers increased to 2,473 as of January 28 2025 during the Chinese New Year holiday period (January 13 to February 23 2025), which were about 11 times more than a year ago or nine times more than the same period of 2019.
WILLER has analyzed that highway bus is preferred as transportation by Chinese travelers to Japan because the travel trend has recently sifted from group travel to FIT, and also Chinese-friendly payment services on the booking site ‘WILLER TRAVEL’ has boosted bookings by Chinese travelers.
WILLER said that about 80% of Chinese passengers use the routes between Kanto and Kansai, and they tend to book high-class seats compared to Japanese passengers.
