JTB World Vacations (JTBWV) has begun selling price-fluctuant LOOK JTB overseas tour products for the first time in the first half of FY2016 (April to October 2016). Prices of the products on its yellow brochure, which is one of the core LOOK JTB brands, may change every two months, depending on the latest market trend. "Giving up the conventional price-fixed products, JTBWV is challenging whole sale innovation," said JTBWV President Yasushi Inoue.
JTBWV has decided to introduce the new typed products for timely response to the market trend because it has recently been more difficult to purchase air seats and hotel rooms under rapid growth of the travel market in Asia. “A whole sale product usually fixes a price through an available period. However, awareness of consumers to prices has recently changed. We are offering more understandable product lineups for both customers and retailers,” JTBWV explained.
In accordance with review of the prices, JTBWV will renew the yellow brochure, on which an available period for reviewed prices will be shown. For the new approach, JTBWV has to renew the brochure at six times a year, for which it may need 1.5 times more cost than before. “Taking a risk, we are challenging,” Inoue said.
