Chuo Ward in Osaka, Japan tops the list of up-and-coming neighborhoods in some of the world’s favorite cities to visit based on travel trends of over 40 million people who stayed in homes on Airbnb in 2015.
The year-on-year growth rate of Airbnb inbound guests in Chuo Ward Osaka was 7,000%, much higher than 1,230% in Bangkok. The historic spots like Osaka Castle, markets and delicious street food vendors in Osaka are particularly preferred by guests, according to Airbnb.
Top three were dominated by neighborhoods in Asia, and all of them seem to be preferred in common themes, such as art, food, outdoor experience and shopping. Airbnb said that guests are more intrepid when it comes to trying new neighborhoods and in doing so they set travel trends to areas little visited before. Airbnb also said that the neighborhoods with more bookings give people a chance to not just be a temporary visitor, but also feel like they can live as a local in a neighborhood.
