Peach Aviation announced on May 22 that the Japanese LCC will launch a Bitcoin payment system in tie-ups with Bit Point Japan, the Bitcoin service and FinTech-related service provider, by the end of 2017. Peach will be the first Japanese airline to introduce a Bitcoin payment system.
The virtual currency market is rapidly growing in Asia, and Bitcoin member shops have been increasing in Japan since the related-law was amended in April 2017. Peach Aviation will designate Sapporo, Sendai and Naha airports as model areas, primarily targeting Chinese and Asian travelers, and try to increase Bitcoin member shops nationwide, working together with local economic communities and local governments.
