Biophilia, a dog food provider of Japan, recently conducted a survey about traveling with a dog to 1021 members of its membership community ‘CoCo Gourmet.’
The survey results find that 96.3% want to travel with their dogs, and 95.8% select a destination based on whether or not they can travel with their dogs.
87.2% said that they want to travel with their dogs even though destinations are limited, and 84.3% said that they want to travel with their dogs even though travel cost is higher.
The most-answered reason for traveling with pets is ‘to travel with dogs as a family member (87.5%),’ followed by ‘to have good memories with dogs (79.9%).’
People who have traveled with dogs before accounted for 82.1% in the survey period from October 24 to 28, higher than 70.4% in the previous survey from March to April 2022. 35% have traveled with dogs more than 10 times.
Compared to the pandemic period, 37.9% said that they increased travels with dogs, and 26.5% said that they increased travel costs for traveling with dogs. Dog owners who spend more than 10,000 yen per dog increased from 37.9% previously to 51%.
