Japan Tourism Agency reported that private accommodations giving up their businesses doubled from 3,692 as of March 11 2020 to 7,292 as of October 7 2020 amid COVID-19, although registrations have increased by 12.4 times to 27,484 since the Private Accommodation Law was enforced on June 15 2018.
The number of registered private accommodations as of October 7 2020 was 20,192, 215 fewer accommodations than a month ago.
