The survey on visitors to tourism-related websites of Japan in 2020, jointly carried out by Japan Travel and Tourism Association and date marketing company Values, illustrates that the top two websites in the travel and transport category were ‘jalan.net' and ‘Rakuten Travel’ in the same manner as a year ago. TripAdvisor, JR East and Yahoo! Travel were among top five. All of them reduced visitors by around 20% compared to a year ago amid the pandemic.
On the contrary, ikyu.com, a luxury accommodation booking site, increased visitors by 8.2% on PC and by 2.0% on smart phone, and aumo, an outing information site, also increased those by 41.5% on PC and by 16.1% on smart phone.
Among the official prefecture tourism websites, the top was Osaka, followed by Mie and Okinawa. Visitors to official prefecture tourism sites generally increased visitors, and Osaka-Info particularly increased visitors by 32% on PC and by 34.7% on smart phone, skyrocketing after ‘Go To Eat’ dining coupons began in October 2020.
