According to official statistics for September 2017, the number of Japanese travelers increased by 5.4% for South Korea (reaching 219,900), by 4.2% for Taiwan (reaching 164,400) and by 16.4% for Hong Kong (reaching 117,900) on a year-on-year basis.
There was a double-digit increase in the number of Japanese travelers to South Korea between June 2016 and March 2017, following the first year-on-year growth during the past 42 months in February 2016, and the monthly results were up in August & September 2017 after a downward trend since April 2017. For Taiwan, the up-and-down trend continued. The number of Japanese travelers to Hong Kong has been increasing since February 2017.
