ANA and JAL revealed their booking status during this coming summer vacation period between August 10 and 20 2023. Both of the airlines have had more bookings on domestic flights than a year ago and have recovered international flights bookings to 65 to 70% of 2019.
ANA increased domestic flight bookings, including LCC Peach Aviation, by 28.7% year on year to 1,795,953, which were 3.2% more bookings than the same period of 2019. The booking rate was 79.4%.
JAL Group also increased domestic flight bookings by 16.5% year on year to 1,166,581, which were 5.7% fewer bookings than 2019. The booking rate was 77%.
ANA had 1.5 times more bookings for Kansai and Chugoku/Shikoku, and JAL had 1.2 times more bookings in total for Tohoku, Hokuriku, Chugoku, Shikoku and Kyushu.
On the international flights, ANA received 222,259 bookings, 77.8% more bookings than a year ago, and the recovery rate improved from around 30% in the Golden Week period beginning late April this year to 65.5% in this summer compared to the same period of 2019. The booking rate was 77.8%. The Hawaii flights were especially demanded with 3.1 times more bookings than a year ago.
JAL increased international flight bookings by 58.4% year on year to 212,950, which recovered to 69.6% of the same period of 2019. The booking rate was 83.3%, and for Hawaii and Guam it was 94.3%.
