ANA and JAL announced that they have restored domestic flight bookings for 2021/22 New Year holiday period (December 25 2021 to January 3 2022) to 70 to 80% of the 2019 level.
ANA increased its domestic flight bookings by 12.3% year on year to 1,081,252, which account for 71% of passengers two years ago. The booking rate was up 15.7 points to 65% compared to a year ago. As of December 16, full-bookings were found in flights departing from Haneda between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. from December 28 to 31.
Domestic flight bookings of JAL were up 64.8% year on year to 978,693, recovering to 84.3% of the 2019 level. The booking rate was also up 23 points to 66.1% compared to a year ago. The highest booking rate was seen on Hokkaido routes with 73.6%, followed by Okinawa routes with 72.7%. The busiest day from Haneda will be December 29 with the booking rate of 89.4%, and the busiest day to Haneda January 3 with the 90.7%.
Both of the airlines continued suffering much fewer international flight bookings than two years ago: 33,859 bookings (down 90%) with the booking rate of 36.6% for ANA and 39,774 bookings (down 86.5%) with the booking rate of 36.9% for JAL.
