The Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO)’s statistics for 2017 reveal that Japan received 1,375,000 visitors from U.S.A. (+10.6% year on year), 495,100 from Australia (+11.2%) and 310,500 from U.K. (+6.2%) all of which broke the previous records.

In December 2017 only, visitors were 116,200 from U.S.A. (+10.6%), 57,300 from Australia (+11.2%) and 23,000 from U.K. (+10.6%), all of which were record-high for December.

Visitors from Australia were record-high in all months except March, which was especially boosted by extension of the air network between Japan and Australia. Visitors for U.S.A. were record-high in all months in 2017, and visitors from U.K. exceeded 300,000 for the first time.
