Consumption index of international visitors in the first half of 2018, announced by Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, finds that only the indexes of expenditures on food/drink and entertainments were higher than those in the latter half of 2017.
The consumption index of international visitors was 370.1, lower than the previous three half-years. The index of expenditure on food/drink rose to record-high 432.5, marking growths for 14 half-years in a row and approaching the index of expenditure on shopping, as the graph below shows.
The consumption index of expenditure on shopping was 472.8, which resulted in the first reduction in the past three half-years. The index of expenditure on accommodation was 310.7, the first reduction in the past three half-years.
