Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) announced that foreign visitors to Japan was up 45.3% year-on-year to 1,526,000 in March 2015, which resulted in record-high for a single months for two months in a row.

The top market was still China with 338,200 visitors (+83.7%), followed by Taiwan with 277,900 (+33.2%) and Korea with 268,200 (+39.6%). In terms of growth rate, the top market was Philippine with 110.9%, followed by Hong Kong with 81.8%, Spain with 73.3% and Vietnam with 67.8%. All of nineteen major markets except Russia resulted in double-digit or more growth of arrivals.

The market was boosted particularly by ease of visa rules for East Asia and Southeast Asia, promotional activities for the cherry blossom season and for shopping and the Easter holiday season in Europe, according to JNTO.
