H.I.S., one of the leading travel agents in Japan, launched a meta-search site for domestic air tickets of all airlines including LCCs. A user booking air ticket on the site is granted ‘Smile Plus’ service, which guarantees 10,000 JPY as a consolation payment for flight delay or cancelation.
A consolation payment, for instance, covers flight delay for more than six hours due to hazardous weather, no alternative flight to a cancelled flight or flight cancelation due to technical problem. To apply for a consolation payment, it is necessary to send a prescribed invoice, an itinerary and a boarding pass to H.I.S.
