Narita International Airport increased passengers in the calendar year of 2015 by 5% year on year to record-high 37,328,213, exceeding 37 million a year for the first time since the airport opened.
Foreign passengers on international flights remarkably increased by 23% to 12,499,430, which were record-high for two years in a row, and an increase in LCC services helped the airport to increase domestic flight passengers by 13% to 6,720,743, which were record-high for six years in a row.
The total of aircraft movements was up 1% to 232,182, breaking the previous records for four years in a row, out of which those for international flights were up 2% to record-high 180,984 since 2007 mainly because of an increase in services for Asia. Aircraft movements for domestic flights were also up 1% to 49,658, breaking the previous records for 14 years in a row.
