Phocuswright Japan is to publish the fourth edition of ‘Japan Online Travel Market Survey,’ in which the report says that online sales of travel suppliers in Japan totaled approximately 4.5 trillion JPY in 2017, 19% more than 2015. Online transactions by travel agents including offline agents were up 27% to about 3 trillion JPY, and out of the total, the ratio of OTA sales and online sales by real agents reached 36%.
The fourth edition contains surveys on online sales in six supplier categories (lodging, airline, railway, bus, rent-a-car and cruise). In addition, an online sales scale of travel agents including OTA and the latest trends of the online travel market are reported.
