According to official statistics for 2017, the number of Japanese travelers increased by 0.6% for South Korea (reaching 2,311,447), by 0.2% for Taiwan (reaching 1,898,854) and by 12.6% for Hong Kong (reaching 1,230,010) on a year-on-year basis.

In December 2017 only, Japanese travelers reduced by 1.8% to 193,705 for South Korea and by 1.4% to 109,572 for Hong Kong, but increased by 2.0% to 187,457 for Taiwan on a year-on-year basis. It is noteworthy that Japanese travelers for Hong Kong increased year on year in all of the months except December 2017, particularly marking growth of 44.3% in February 2017.
