54% of Japanese people want tourism information directly from a destination, and ‘loyal customers’ are more found in 20s and 30s

NTTCom Online Marketing Solutions conducted a survey on ‘D2C (Direct to Consumer)  in tourism and sports industry,’ together with NTT Data Institute of Management Consulting, The survey focused on consumers’ awareness to connect with contents holders directly. 

According to the survey results, 34.2% of all answered that they have their favorite tourism destinations and accommodations and directly check vacancy. 44.6% of sports spectators or live entertainment spectators purchase tickets directly on a team or an artiest homepage. 

53.6% of all want direct mails from contents holders in the tourism sector, and 39.1% in the sports and entertainment sector.

The ratio of ‘loyal customers’ with higher spending and higher frequency was 10.4% in the tourism sector and 8.8% in the sports and entertainment sector.  20s loyal customers in the tourism sector accounted for 26.8% and 30s for 14.2%. 20s loyal customers in the sports and entertainment sector accounted for 40.0% and 30s for 13.2%.

The survey results also finds that 20s to 30s loyal customers mainly gather information on SNS, especially X, Instagram or Facebook.
