Both ANA and JAL received 80% more domestic flight bookings and four times more international flight bookings in this coming New Year holiday period (December 28 2022 to January 5 2021) than a year ago. The booking rates of international flights remarkably improved to 77% for both.
ANA sees days with full bookings on A380 flights for Hawaii
ANA increased domestic flight bookings by 17.2% year on year to 1,095,885 (down 19.1% over the same period of 2019), as it increased available seats by 15.4% to 1,572,409 (down 8.5% over the same period of 2019). The booking rate was 69.7%. Including Peach Aviation, the ANA Group’s LCC, bookings were up 14.6% to 1,284,938 in total.
Bookings on Chugoku/Shikoku, Kyushu and Okinawa routes recovered to about 85% of 2019, and high growths were seen in 20s with 1.4 times more bookings and 50 years old or older with 1.3 times more bookings, according to ANA.
International flight bookings were up 388.2% to 136,253 (down 52% over the same period of 2019), providing 177,044 seats, 150% more than a year ago. The booking rate was up 37.5 points year on year to 77%.
ANA revealed that it saw almost full bookings on the A380 flights from Narita on December 29 2022 and from Hawaii on January 4 2023.
JAL received 10 times more bookings on East Asia and Hawaii routes
JAL Group increased domestic flight bookings by 4.9% year on year to 878,268 (down 13.2% over the same period of 2019), providing 1,238,907 seats, 1.2% more than a year ago. The booking rate was up 2.5 points to 70.9%. Bookings on Hokkaido routes were almost the same as a year ago, but bookings on routes for other regions exceeded a year ago.
International flight bookings were up 320.2% to 141,776 (down 42.5% over the same period of 2019), providing 184,035 seats, 105.3% more than a year ago. The booking rate was up 39.4 points year on year to 77%.
JAL said that bookings on East Asia and Hawaii/Guam routes were 10 times more than a year ago.
