Global travel restrictions still limited international visitors to Japan with 22,000 only in October 2021

Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) announced that the number of international visitors to Japan in October 2021 was 22,100 only even though the Japanese government has eased entry restrictions for vaccinated international visitors since October. Global travel restrictions still limited international visitors to Japan.

The largest source market was China with 4,000 visitors, followed by U.S. with 2,000, South Korea with 1,900, India with 1,500 and Vietnam with 1,000.

According to OAG, international flights arriving in six major airports in Japan (Narita, Haneda, Kansai, Nagoya, Fukuoka and Sapporo) were down 8.2% year on year to 2,849 in October 2021, and available seats were down 1.6% to 691,816 in total. 

The Japanese government has eased quarantine rules for vaccinated international visitors who visit Japan for business purposes and has restarted receiving new international students and technical trainees.
