The latest survey, conducted by ADARA, an analyzer of online traveler behaviors, finds that international travelers started online searches of hotels in Japan 83.3 days before departures and of flights to Japan 82.5 days before departures. Days spent for final bookings were 9.4 days for flights and 17 days for hotels. The results came from ADARA data in a year from September 2015.
The world’s averages were 38.4 days before departures for flights and 35.6 days before departures for hotels. The survey shows that international travelers to Japan spent more than twice as many days to decide flights and hotels as the world’s averages. Also, one of the features for international travelers to Japan was that they tried to find hotels first.
In the meantime, Japanese overseas travelers started searching hotels 68.1 days before departures and flights 68.7 days before departures. Days spent for final bookings were 8.6 days for flights and 26.1 days for hotels, both of which were longer than the world’s averages of 3.4 days for flights and 22.5 days for hotels.
For travel in Japan, travelers started searching hotels 58.9 days before departures and flights 59.6 days before departures, and days spent for final bookings were 14.4 days for hotels and 9.1 days for flights.
