According to official statistics for 2018, the number of Japanese travelers increased by 27.6% to 2,948,500 for South Korea, by 4.7% to 1,287,800 for Hong Kong and by 3.7% to 1,969,200 for Taiwan on a year-on-year basis. The 30% growth of Japanese travelers for South Korea was seen for the first time in the past two years.
